Brisbee Patch

Brisbee Patch was until recently a place that Ryan didn't let people go to, except once a year, because it is seriously so magical and strange that he wasn't quite sure it was safe, which is why it isn't marked on any of the maps. But it (probably) is! It's located just north of Ryan's pretty sweet mansion, just across the river.

Notable spots include the Blue Marsh, the Turkishly Cliff, the Rocket Pools, the Pink Lake, and more. Each year in the spring, the Boats and Picnics Club holds their annual Gala Fundraiser Festival Concert Party, which consists of concerts, picnics, boats, parties, and the like.

Most TaBBers have been, because it rules.

Effects on people from outside Yarn Island

Visitors to Brisbee Patch who did not previously live on Yarn Island have reported numerous strange effects on their body or mind. For instance, Zach seems to have stopped aging entirely, and Pénélope's spirit was removed from Tyler and made into an actual person.

Nobody has explained this phenomenon.

Interesting Points of Interest

Turkishly Cliffs

The Turkishly Cliffs are huge, towering cliffs that edge the Eastern end of Yarn Island. Some are as high as 100ft (about 31m). Ryan is famous for being able to do four flips off of them before landing in the ocean, which is quite a feat. This was first accomplished in front of Tyler and Mike, who were speechless.

The Pink Lake

The Pink Lake is bizarre in the way it behaves: for one thing, it looks like bright pink paint instead of water, and for another, if you fall into it by accident and would rather you didn't, you are bounced right back to where you fell from. It also has the amazingly beautiful property of being able to reflect and sometimes absorb light from the stars and moon at night, giving off a faint reddish-pink glow often well into the morning, which produces a halo like effect around Secretariat Mountain. Commonly it is arrived at by traveling down Littleroot Lane, but there are other, more adventurous paths to be sure.

Secretariat Mountain

It looks like a rooster. This means that the halo effect in early morning from the Pink Lake looks really weird. It's surrounded by the grounds where the GFFCP is held each year. The mountain is also home to the Rocket Pools, which lie on the side between the GFFCP grounds and the Pink Lake.

Rocket Pools

The Rocket Pools are the perfect place to wind down every evening. They're located near the peak of Secretariat Mountain, but the climb isn't hard at all. The hot springs are all natural, and surrounded by many smaller pools and small geysers which go off periodically. There is a small population of cute white crabs that live here, crawling around. They are often rocketed into the air by a geyser going off, hence the name "Rocket Pools". The crabs are rarely hurt, because they typically fall into a pool and scuttle out, but if they are hurt it's no big deal because they typically regrow limbs within an hour or so.

Blue Marsh

The Blue Marsh is part forest and part 10ft (3m) high grassland. It lies just next to the river, near the bridge that leads to Ryan's pretty sweet mansion, and is the main thoroughfare for all traffic in and out of Brisbee Patch. It is home to a frog elder and his friend the toad, who maintain the wooden walkways over the swampier bits and put up commemorative trees whenever someone has a wonderful day in the marsh. One of the first trees put up this way was in remembrance of Zach. According to Pénélope, there are a tribe of tiny unicorns in a glade here, but no one is sure if she should be believed.

Snaggletooth Forest

The Snaggletooth Forest is a less-traveled part of Brisbee Patch, located near the tip of the region to the North. It is home to the Yaga Clan, a kind of three-eyed humanoid race which is primarily female, leading many of their kind to marry outside the clan. Unfortunately, they have poor temperaments, so this has become rarer in recent years. This did not, however, stop Tom Meade from falling in love with Mitsy Yaga.

Harvest Rise

Harvest Rise is the name of the primary hill in the wild orchards that surround one side of Turkishly Cliffs and part of the Pink Lake. Primarily oranges are grown here, and Michael and Tyler talk here a lot. On the other side of the hills there is a field that seems to stretch on too long relative to the amount of space it could actually be taking up. It is in this field that The Robot was witnessed to die by Tyler one early morning.

Western Shores

As the Turkishly Cliffs subside into hills, the ocean front becomes sandier and more welcoming for sunbathers and snorkelers. Parts of the Western Shores are home to a rare form of extremely anthropomorphic clams, which wear jaunty hats. Near the bottom off the shores there is a pier which hasn't been used in a very long time.

Southern Forest

The Southern Forest is where Selden first spotted The Robot. It is also home to an elaborately laid out croquet course and a smallish hovel, which once inside, proves to be a massive library full of books in an unknown language. Not even Ryan knows about it.

Local curiosities

Each year in the spring, The Boats and Picnics Club holds a Gala Festival Fundraiser Concert Party, which is the delight of the entire island. It usually lasts about a week.

The wildlife of Brisbee Patch is amazing, as well. The white crabs that live at the Rocket Pools, for example, can regenerate damaged limbs in less than an hour, and most larger animals can speak if they are so inclined.

The Yagas

While not wildlife per say, they are definitely worth mentioning here. They are a race of three-eyed humanoids who live in the Snaggletooth Forest. Their race is roughly 70% female, leading many of the matured female to seek companionship with a human, as they are monogamous. Their third eye usually rests on the bridge of their nose and is much smaller than their other two eyes, but there are Yagas who have a normal size eye on their forehead. These Yagas are called Greater Yagas, and are promoted to high stations within the Yaga society. Not much else is known of their society, however.

The Robot

While not necessarily wildlife, The Robot is a large silver automaton rarely glimpsed and never truly seen, save for when Tyler witnessed its final moments in a dimly lit underground cave. It traveled the Patch, attempting to clean the entire island, eventually breaking down upon realizing the entire planet is made out of dirt. Though local folklore is rich in tales of encountering The Robot through the trees, no one is sure of who made it or where it came from or how long it has even been around.

Tiny Unicorns

The tiny unicorns Pénélope reported seeing in the glade of the wooded part of the Blue Marsh have never been seen since, but that's probably because they are so small that a single blade of normal sized grass is half their size. When she later returned to find the unicorns, she discovered the glade was gone, leading her to believe that the unicorns carry the glade around with them pushing trees out of their way as they travel. If this is the case, it should be easy to find them in a hot air balloon, but no one has yet thought of that.
