Sometime around April 28 2009, TaBB as we know and love it succumbed to an incredible amount of errors. This prompted the exodus.
By the 30th, Ryan had been contacted and had fixed most of the problems with TaBB. However, due to Dreamhost being in large part a pile of worthless faggots, he couldn't upgrade to phpBB 3 remotely. He locked the forum for about an hour and a half, during which time he downloaded every post and tried to convert everything locally, but failed again, probably due to TaBB being so broken in the first place.
Ryan asked TaBB if he should make a new subdirectory for phpBB 3 and simply migrate the accounts and not the posts, leaving TaBB behind as a read-only archive, and TaBB overwhelmingly agreed.
On May 27, 2009, all this came to pass, as TaBB 2.0 rose like a phoenix from the flame wars of the now archived TaBB 1.0.
